This big black winged 1550 horse powered V8 supercharged fuel injected chevy is the
guardian of all Monsters.
Yet another of the World famous Paul Shafer USA Motorsports team Monster Patrol has
done it all.
In 1997 Monster Patrol won the USA World Indoor Championships and was the starting
point for an American Superstar of Monster Trucks Tom Meents. Meents who resides in
Paxton Illinoishad commenced a career as a Mud Racer on the USA circuit, these
events regularly included high powered mud racing vehicles and monster trucks it was
here that he met Mr Monster Trucks himself Paul Shafer. The rest is history for the next
few years Meents drove Monster Patrol to National Fame before going it alone and
finally joining forces with Clear Channel and going on to win numerous World Finals and today still retaining the World Freestyle Championship in his high flying Maximum
Destruction.
Monster Patrol has been used with distinction in the USA as part of the countries Police
DARE campaign against Crime and Drugs and has been a regular on local TV
Networks campaigning to kids.
Monster Patrol arrived in Australia in late May 2005 after a very lengthy 7 month
unplanned boat ride around the World. Monster Patrol made its Australian Debut in
June 2005 at the Indoor Brisbane Entertainment Centre Motorcross Event-unplanned but
quite appropriate for the former Indoor Champion.
Monster Patrol is a great Wheelstanding truck and can regularly be seen standing
upright as it propels off the cars.
Monster Patrol's main driver is the Grand-daddy of all Australian Monster Trucks Barry
Gaunt, the former Rockhampton Qld resident built Australia's first ever Monster Truck
Wild Thing almost 20 years ago before selling it to the late Vic Butler, whom Barry
worked with for many years. Barry now turned 62 loves the life of Monster trucking and
has no intentions of retirement in the foreseeable future.
